About AIM The Teachers Projects

What is AIM?

The Tamalpais High School Academy of Integrated Humanities and New Media (AIM) is a challenging, two-year, three-subject program for juniors and seniors. It blends required social studies and English courses with a media elective, Computer Applications, providing students with the opportunity to get hands-on experience using digital video and audio production, web design, and other media applications through rigorous, inter-disciplinary projects. AIM prepares students to excel in college and the world of work by emphasizing the academic, professional, and technological skills students need to succeed in high school and beyond.

What Makes AIM Unique?
  • Integrated Studies - Social Studies and English curricula are integrated to help students make connections and provide relevance.
  • Flexible Time - We block three periods in a row so we can use our time more creatively and allow students to work outside the classroom.
  • Professional Experts - Experts in the media and technology fields work with our students to teach them professional skills and create high-quality products.
  • Industry-Standard Technology - Students work on Macintosh G4s and G5s with the latest software such as Final Cut Pro HD, Soundtrack, DVD Studio Pro, LiveType, GarageBand, Dreamweaver Studio MX, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Personalization - Because AIM is a two-year program, AIM can personalize education by creating meaningful and sustained relationships among students and adults.
  • Real-World Application - Students research in the local communities and beyond and present their work in public exhibitions such as student and professional film festivals.
What type of student would benefit from AIM?

AIM isn't for every student. AIM is an intense, rigorous program that challenges creative and responsible students who like to work as part of a team and have a genuine interest in media.

How does one join AIM?
Students who will be juniors next year may join AIM by completing an application, providing two adult references, and agreeing to a possible interview. No tests or minimum GPA are required, although acceptance into the AP Language and Composition English course requires a district-mandated test.
