 | The American Character project challenged students to identify and reveal a defining element of our national character. Using research from literature, history, and interviews with community members, AIM students chose to focus on one facet of the 'American Character'. Curriculum from both US History and English, including Cold War studies
and novels such as Angle of Repose and The Things They Carried, were blended together in order to provide a concrete background for the project.
Six films from this project were submitted to the BestFet San Diego Film Festival, all of which were recognized. Four of these films were officially selected, and the others (including thirty AIM students total) were given honorable mentions. AIM recieved awards for first place, second palce, third place, and fifth place in the High School Documentary category.
The AIM films that are listed under this category were also exhibited in a public festival in Mill Valley. AIM parents and community members, including guest speaker Bill Jersey, attended the event.
